Parker volleyball team returns to state tourney this weekend

Parker Junior High School’s eighth girls volleyball team is headed to the state tournament for the fifth straight year. The Falcons defeated the eighth grade team from Homewood’s James Hart School on March 7 to win the regional final and advance to the Illinois Elementary School Association state tournnment.    

Homewood to hire part-time police officers

Homewood will hire part-time police officers after the village board approved the measure last month. In a memo, Police Chief Bill Alcott said the department currently has “reserve” officers.
