During the weekend of May 2, blue and white signs started sprouting up on people’s lawns. The signs told residents of Homewood and Flossmoor, and other communities in Illinois and Indiana, that their neighbors worked for Homewood School District 153.

Retiring teacher brought 5-day PE classes to D153
Marge Laskero was a new teacher who took the initiative to ask for a change. Her action has impacted Homewood students the past 33 years. She will retire from District 153 after 34 years.
Districts plan Pulaski Day as polar vortex makeup
Homewood and Flossmoor students will forfeit the March 4 Casimir Pulaski Day holiday so the districts can get to the required 176 days on the school calendar. While students will learn of the heroism of Pulaski, this year it won’t mean a day off.
