Homewood trustees approve business incentive for Bookies, tour new fire truck
The Homewood Board of Trustees approved business incentives for Bookies New and Used Books, an independent book store being developed at 2015 Ridge Road. The brief meeting was preceded and followed by tours of the village’s new fire truck, which went into service Tuesday night.

New Dunkin’ Donuts location slated along Vollmer near Meijer
Flossmoor plans to sell a piece of land along Vollmer Road to a Dunkin’ Donuts franchise owner. Village Manager Bridget Wachtel Monday proposed the terms of the sale of the property at 3608 Vollmer Road, on the northwest corner of Central Park Avenue, between Meijer and Governors Highway.
Vice District Brewing grand opening event is Aug. 31
Vice District Brewing will host the grand opening on Friday, Aug. 31, at its new location at 18027-18029 Dixie Highway in Homewood. The craft brewery is selling tickets for two-hour portions of the opening for $25. Vice will donate 25 percent of the proceeds to local nonprofit organizations.

DQ reopening in 4 to 6 weeks
The grand re-opening of Homewood’s Dairy Queen is coming. Kelly Welsh, manager of the store, said she expects to announce the re-opening in four to six weeks after extensive damage was done to the building in a car accident July 17.
