The first and second graders wiggled and barked and fluttered. It was all part of their pretending to be a tree on Friday, April 27, as they took part in the planting of a tree for Arbor Day, a national day that celebrates trees.
The Flossmoor Hills Green Team was excited about helping plant an Illinois pecan that is expected to produce nuts in another 10 years or so. It was part of the school’s Arbor Day observance.
“Trees are one of the strengths in a community,” according to Homewood Forester Jim Tresouthick. That’s why both Homewood and Flossmoor invest and take pride in the local urban forest.
