A woman suffered minor injuries Sunday night when she was struck by a vehicle while chasing her own vehicle as it was being driven off by a thief.
Police responded to the 18200 block of Halsted Street at about 9:50 p.m. The victim was seen by Homewood Fire Department paramedics for minor injuries from being struck by the vehicle and refused further treatment, police said.
Shots reportedly were fired during the incident, which began when the woman left her car running and unoccupied. Someone entered the vehicle and drove off. Police recovered shell casings at the scene but no reported injuries from the shots.
