For many, the assumption is Jews and Muslims don’t get along. Members of two local congregations, however, are defying that stereotype in the interest of social service. In 2016, the life paths of three men of Jewish and Muslim faiths came together, and they have formed a partnership based on service.

Homewood will celebrate its 125th anniversary in 2018, and the first event will be a look at recent village history from the perspective of three civic leaders, Mayor Richard Hofeld and former mayors John Doody and Andrew Lindstrom.
With the new year, Homewood will be getting a new restaurant, adding a Cajun/Creole flavor to the village’s dining repertoire. On Thursday, Jan. 11, Hidden Manna is expected to open at 17949 Halsted St.
