Elizabeth Cady Stanton (1815-1902) was an American social activist and leading figure of the early women’s movement. Her Declaration of Sentiments, presented at the first women’s rights convention held in 1848 in Seneca Falls, New York, is often credited with initiating the first organized woman’s rights and woman’s suffrage movements in the United States. In 1851, she met Susan B. Anthony and formed a decades long partnership. Her unwavering dedication to women’s suffrage resulted in the 19th Amendment to the Constitution.

Betsey Means is a professional actress who has performed with Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Shakespeare on the Green, Blue Rider Theatre, and Chicago Children’s Theatre, among other groups. She represents the group “WomanLore” who offers one-woman performances adapted directly from journals, autobiographies, and personal writings.
