Serena Hills principal resigns, third in District 161 to quit since March
Shari Demitrowicz, the principal of Serena Hills School for the last five years, is leaving Flossmoor District 161 at the end of the 2018-2019 academic year. Demitrowicz’s resignation was announced at the April 8 board of education meeting.
Surveys helping H-F Park District set future course
Residents are offering their opinions on park services in a survey sent out for the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District. Households were randomly selected to receive the survey. Thus far, about 200 persons have returned the survey developed by PROS Consulting, a firm that specializes in park district information.

Long-time steward of Izaak Walton Preserve, Robert Ahlf dies at 77
The man who led the development and care of Izaak Walton Nature Preserve in Homewood for more than four decades died Wednesday, April 17. Robert “Bob” Ahlf, 77, died at his Belleair, Florida, residence.
