District 153 reading specialist Maureen Daley is taking her love of books to Africa this summer. Daley will be one of 25 people traveling to Ghana for 10 days through Literacy Empowerment Action Program (LEAP) for Ghana.

D153 SMART lab drawing teachers from across the country
The two-year-old SMART lab at James Hart School in Homewood has given District 153 teachers Katie Nigro and Cheri Pesina an opportunity to show off the lab to teachers from across the United States.
H-F graduate wins $25,000 scholarship
Raven Davis, a June graduate of Homewood-Flossmoor High School, won a $25,000 scholarship from Taco Bell Foundation. She will be attending DePaul University and will be majoring in film.
