Parker students honored for history fair projects
Parker Junior High School had 32 students honored by the Flossmoor District 161 Board of Education May 8 for their outstanding projects in the Chicago Metro History Fair.
Western Avenue Principal Prosen headed for Oak Brook school
Western Avenue School Principal Chad Prosen resigned this week. He will become the new principal at Brook Forest School in Butler District 53 in Oak Brook beginning with the 2017-18 school year. The District 53 school board approved Prosen’s hiring on May 8.

New Parker Junior High principal named after three-month search
A new principal is coming to Parker Junior High School in Flossmoor. When the District 161 Board of Education announced at Monday’s meeting its unanimous decision to hire Fred Hunter, the news was greeted by enthusiastic applause and a standing ovation.
District 161 honors Parker musicians, volleyball players
Talented musicians and volleyball players from Parker Junior High School were recently honored with certificates by the Flossmoor District 161 Board of Education. During the April 10 school board meeting, the musicians were recognized for their participation in a recent festival produced by the Illinois Music Educators Association.
