Tony nominated ‘Clyde’s’ presented by Drama Group in June

The Drama Group’s production of “Clyde’s,” called “redemption and inspiration, served on the perfect sandwich,” will be presented over two weekends starting June 5, at its theater at 330 W. 202nd St., Chicago Heights.

Clyde’s truck stop is staffed by those who were once incarcerated. Clyde, the owner, believes she can manipulate her employees knowing they have few other options, so the employees lean on each other. Together they believe their chef guru will create the perfect sandwich.

“Clyde’s” was written by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage and was nominated in 2022 for a Tony Award.

The Drama Group’s production will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 5 and 6, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 7. The following weekend, the show will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, June 11, 12 and 13, and at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 13, and Sunday, June 14.

This show has an R rating for strong language, adult themes and explicit sexual references.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $23 for seniors and members of the military, and $19 for students. Tickets are available online at dg.booktix.com. A fee is charged for online purchases. Tickets are also available through the Drama Group box office at 708-755-3444.
