For most of its history, Flossmoor did not have a standalone liquor store. That changed on Nov. 24, when Ronakkumar Patel opened Flossmoor Liquors at 19870 Kedzie Ave. The liquor license was approved by the village board at its Aug. 18 meeting.
“We are really excited to be the first independent liquor store in Flossmoor,” Patel said. “We are very thankful to the village mayor and all the trustees to have a faith in us.”

He said he appreciates the support of the community, too. His goal is to provide options locally so people don’t have to drive far to find products they want.
The new venture is not the first time Patel broke new ground in the village. His Cork Gaming and Wine Bar next door to the new store was the first combination of its kind in the village.
Before starting Cork, Patel purchased Family Wine & Liquors in Homewood, a store that has a larger footprint but similar store layout and products as the new store in Flossmoor. Family Wine & Liquors expanded after Thomas Photographic Services relocated and left the adjacent space at the end of 2022.
Flossmoor Liquors offers fine wines, microbrew beers from different regions around the country and a wide range of spirits.
The store also stocks non-alcoholic beers, wines and spirits, which have been growing in popularity in recent years.
Patel said the new store currently is offering a special, a 10% discount with any purchase of four bottles of wine. He also offers to match prices of any other retailer in the area.
