Co-founder and longtime director Elaine Egdorf will recall origins of the Homewood Historical Society and its Dorband-Howe House Museum.
The festivities begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at the Homewood Public Library, 17917 S. Dixie Highway.
From its beginning, the Homewood Historical Society has declared “Saving the Past for the Future Since 1980” as its mission. This month the HHS will be saving some of its own past for future reference by looking back on its history in the month marking its 45th anniversary.
The society’s monthly program will feature a conversation between Egdorf and current president Bob Anderson.
Egdorf is a co-founder of HHS, past president, and remains an active and dedicated director. Anderson will interview Egdorf about the early days when HHS was first organized and took possession of the historic Dorband-Howe House, becoming the community’s local museum.
The Homewood Historical Society’s standard practice is to record each of its monthly programs, creating a digital record of the historical topics presented. Egdorf’s recounting of the society’s formation and 45 years of service will be the latest addition to that digital archive.
Of course, this is a birthday so HHS will have a birthday cake and refreshments at the event.
