Homewood firefighters responded about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, to a fire in an office building at 905 175th St.
Homewood Deputy Fire Chief Steve DeJong said offices on the third floor of the building were heavily damaged by fire, smoke and water. He said the whole building will be uninhabitable for some time as fire officials investigate the cause of the blaze.

No one was in the office at the time of the fire. DeJong said one firefighter was transported to a hospital with possible exhaustion but was later released.
Firefighters were on the scene for about one-and-a-half hours. The street was closed for about an hour.
