H-F Theater presents ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical’

“Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical” will be presented by the Homewood-Flossmoor High School Theater Department at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Sept. 25 and 26, and 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27.

This hour-long children’s play will bring the chaos of middle school to the stage. This fast, funny, and big-hearted production is meant for kids 8 and older and is based on the books of the same name. It’s a heartfelt story that sneaks in a radical idea: popularity fades but belonging sticks.

Tickets are $6 for students and senior citizens and $11 for adults and are available through gofan.co.

“Diary of a Wimpy Kid” is set at Westmore Middle School where the hallways are wallpapered with sticky notes, whispers travel at light speed, and the rumor mill runs on cafeteria tater tots. One kid’s mission is clear: Greg Heffley will not be at the bottom of the popularity chart.

When Greg’s master plans collide with real life, he’s faced with the toughest test of all: Is climbing the social ladder worth losing your one true friend? The show is full of larger-than-life characters, laugh-out-loud gags and songs the audience will be humming. This musical turns everyday middle-school mayhem into a feel-good adventure every former sixth-grader will recognize.
