Applications open for Homewood Science Center’s Middle School Ecology Internship 

Students in grades 6 through 8 who are interested in learning about local ecosystems through hands-on science exploration will find what they are looking for in the Homewood Science Center’s Middle School Ecology Internship.

The deadline to register is Sept. 19. The internship sessions will be held on Saturdays for four weeks starting Sept. 27 and on one weekend in October. 

Interns will meet outdoors at Homewood’s Izaak Walton Preserve on the following dates:​

  • ​Sept. 27 — 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
  • Oct. 4 — 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
  • Oct. 11 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
  • Oct. 18 — 9:30 to 12:30 p.m.
  • Oct. 19 — 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Present activities during the annual Walk Walton event at Izaak Walton.

The internship program will complement the ccosystems science content and the science and engineering practices reflected in the Next Generation Science Standards for middle school.

Homewood Science Center STEAM Educator Charlie Rohrer will supervise the student-led program.
