Flossmoor Police Department announces traffic enforcement results

The Flossmoor Police Department conducted a focused traffic safety campaign from July 8 to Aug. 1 to remind area motorists that “Speeding Catches Up with You” and to encourage safe driving habits.

The campaign was part of a state-wide effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and the Illinois State Police that aimed to reduce highway fatalities and injuries associated with speeding.

During this enforcement period, Flossmoor Police issued:

  • 108 speeding citations.
  • 14 suspended/revoked license violations.
  • Six uninsured motorist violations.
  • Three seat belt citations.
  • One DUI arrest.
  • 22 other traffic citations.

“We continue to urge all drivers traveling through Flossmoor to slow down, obey speed limits and to drive responsibly,” Flossmoor Police Chief Carl Estelle said. “Every decision you make behind the wheel matters.”

This campaign aligns with IDOT’s broader “It’s Not a Game” initiative, emphasizing that dangerous driving behaviors have serious consequences.

The speed enforcement effort was funded by federal highway safety dollars administered by IDOT.
