Flossmoor Art Commission prepares for the sculpture tour [update July 30]

UPDATE: Due to the rainy weather, the Flossmoor Summer Sculpture Tour in Leavitt Park has been moved to Thursday, July 31, at 6 p.m. 

The Flossmoor Public Art Commission has begun preparations for the 2025 Sculpture Tour at their monthly meeting Monday, July 14.

The Sculpture Tour is on Wednesday, July 30, starting at 6 p.m. at Leavitt Park, 1010 Leavitt Ave. 

Guest presenters will be commission Chair Nancy Burrows and commission members Leona Calvin, Michael Cheney, Charlene Gordon and Jeff Stevenson.

On the tour, Burrows will discuss “Minions” by artist Scott McMillin. Cheney will cover “Uplifted” by Richard Hunt and “On the Edge of Awakening” by Terry Karpowicz. 

Gordon will speak about the “Land Jacks” by Jason Verbeek and “Reaching for Sky” by Hilde DeBruyne. Stevenson will speak on “Eternal Flame” by Fritz Olsen and the new addition “Ten Thousand Ripples” by Indira Johnson. 

A tent and chairs will be set up and snacks will be available. The commission will continue to promote the event with flyers, posters and on the village’s social media site.
