Insects can help the garden environment

Pollinating insects are known to help flowers stay healthy, but many parasites and predators can be just as helpful in maintaining one’s garden. 
 
The Homewood Tree Committee hosted its Green Thumb Saturdays meeting July 11 on the topic of beneficial insects, with a speaker from the Illinois Extension, Master Gardener Laurie Martin. 

Martin gave an in-depth presentation on different pollinators, parasites that can harm people’s gardens and predators that can control and kill parasites.
