Fiber Friends Drop-In. Knitters, crocheters, embroiderers and quilters are welcome to stop by the conference room at Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave., from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to share your projects with people of all skill levels. Bring your materials and group members can help you learn.

Crafty Tots. From 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. youngsters can finger-paint, doodle, and put together their own works of art at Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave. All supplies provided. Register here.

Walk Through Our Mission. You Matter 2 will host an immersive evening at Flossmoor Community Church, 2218 Hutchison Road, that introduces the organization’s work with youth through storytelling, creativity and connection. Guests will journey from 7 to 11 p.m. through interactive stations led by students, alumni and volunteers, experiencing firsthand how You Matter 2 supports youth from middle school through career readiness. The evening will conclude with a Spotlight Program featuring student stories, a live auction, and a collective paddle raise, which is a fundraising practice for attendees to raise their bidder paddles to commit to specific donation levels, to support  programs. Saturday, May 23

Barb & Dan’s Road Ride. A 25-mile fitness bike ride. Everyone stays together. Leaves GoodSpeed Cycles, 2125 W. 183rd St., every Saturday (weather permitting) at 8 a.m. Returns before 10 a.m. Pace dictated by the riders who show up. Explore our local streets and trail system with Barb & Dan Lawler.

Off-Leash Ride. A nine-mile bike ride at about a 9-to-10 mph pace every Saturday. Route includes Butterfield Creek bike path, Rovers Run and Izaak Walton Preserve. Starts at 8:30 a.m. from GoodSpeed Cycles, 2125 W. 183rd St. in Homewood. Ends back at the shop about 9:30 a.m. for donuts. Kid trailers welcome.

STEM Saturday. Homewood Science Center, 18022 Dixie Highway, will host its free weekly science play time for the whole family from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Play opportunities include Pixel Pegs, Nano, Early Math Counts Activities, Makerspace, Imagination Playground, Dinosaur Bones, LEGO Wall and more.

Monday, May 25

Memorial Day in Homewood. The combined James Hart and Parker Junior High bands will perform at 10:15 a.m. at the intersection of Olive Road and Harwood Avenue. The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Veterans Memorial. The Homewood-Flossmoor High School band will perform, there will be several speakers, wreath laying, a rifle salute and taps will be sounded.

Memorial Day in Flossmoor. Taps Across America will take place at 3 p.m. at the flag pole in front of Flossmoor Village Hall, 2800 Flossmoor Road.
