Last call for Rabid Brewing in Homewood

After nine years of brewing beer and creating community on Bretz Drive in Homewood, Rabid Brewing is bidding farewell to its first home.

Friday, April 24, will be the last day to taste the craft brewer’s beers there as owners Raiye Rosado and Tobias Cichon close in preparation for a move to a new location in Lansing.

No date has been set for the opening of the Lansing brew pub.

In a social media post this week, Rosado and Cichon looked to the future.

“All that we have created together — the new friendships forged, the nights of high strangeness, the spirit of lost family found, the halcyon magic of our diverse blood — these things have found a new cradle, and they will bloom bigger than this room could hold,” they said.

The decision to move to the neighboring village came after the couple tried to expand in Homewood, putting in a bid on the Park West Plaza on West 183rd Street, where they hoped to develop a bigger space to accommodate more food service and bigger events.

When the village chose another developer, Rosado and Cichon widened their search for a new home.

Rabid Brewing will be open Friday from 4 p.m. to midnight.
