Prairie stewardship at Gensburg-Markham Prairie will be the topic for the Green Drinks discussion from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, at Thornton Distilling Company, 400 E. Margaret St., in Thornton.
The program brings together volunteers who share their knowledge and expertise describing what makes the Gensburg-Markham Prairie such a remarkable natural area in Illinois. Learn the history and future of the prairie, the work of the volunteer group and how to get involved.
Featured speakers are:
- Noah Hornak — Leader of the regular volunteer group. He is motivated by connection, community, and reciprocity. He has been volunteering at GMP since the group formed in March 2025.
- Ashley Bradley — Artist, weaver, and restoration volunteer for five years. She has been with the prairie since the beginning. She has a special love for butterflies and moths.
- Josh Raebel — A dedicated volunteer who has been swept up by the people and plants that make GMP so special.
- Pam Abbott — A retired educator who is passionate about caring for the earth and connecting children with nature.
