D161 seeks community input for superintendent search

The Flossmoor School District 161 Board of Education on Tuesday, April 14, sent an invitation seeking input from members of the community on the current search for a new superintendent.

The board is inviting the community to help craft “a leadership profile outlining the professional and personal characteristics required to be successful in the role” by filling out a survey that will be open through midnight April 22. To participate, click here [English Spanish].

The board approved a memorandum of understanding Thursday, April 2, with BWP and Associates, the consulting firm that will conduct the search for a new superintendent. BWP will incorporate survey results in the leadership profile it provides to the board.

BWP also plans to hold focus group sessions with district stakeholders. According to the timeline consultants provided at the April 2 special board meeting, the board could be able to make a hiring decision by mid-June.

Current Superintendent Dana Smith announced Feb. 10 that he would be leaving the district after serving for nine years.
