“What Do We Tell the Children?” a program designed to engage young people in conversation on slavery, freedom, war and peace will be given at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 12, at Quinn Chapel, 2401 S. Wabash Ave. in Chicago.

Three speakers will lead the discussion on these often difficult topics. The program is presented by the Midwest Underground Railroad Network and Quinn Chapel AME Church. The program is for all ages and will include interactive art and literacy experiences.

Ernest Crimm III, an Emmy nominated educator and author; Candice Washington, founder of Brown Books & Paintbrushes; and Dr. Kimya Barden, counselor and parenting expert, will lead the discussion.

This is the third event in the Healing Illinois series and is sponsored by the Illinois Department of Human Services through a grant from the Field Foundation.

Registration is being accepted by Obari Cartman at 708-543-1261 or at [email protected].
