A $40,000 grant from PetSmart Charities is helping South Suburban Humane Society get pets healthy and ready for adoption, especially as staff marks National Adoption Week now through Sunday, March 29.
“Because of this funding, more pets will receive the care they need sooner, helping them become adoption-ready faster and spend less time in the shelter,” according to Angie Day, CEO of South Suburban Humane Society.
“This support is vital to our mission in the south suburban region where many families rely on us as a safety net for animals in need. By investing in medical care, nutrition and enrichment, we’re able to give every pet a better chance at finding a loving home.”
As part of the program, South Suburban Humane Society is hosting adoption programs from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, in Orland Hills; noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 28, in Crestwood; and noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, in Matteson.
“We’re proud to work alongside the South Suburban Humane Society and appreciate the critical steps they take to advocate for the animals that come through their doors in need of love, safety, care and nutrition,” said Aimee Gilbreath, president of PetSmart Charities.
