Stephanie Wiedeman is running for Democratic Party committeeperson for Thornton Township. Her opponent, incumbent committeeperson Napoleon Harris, did not respond to the Chronicle’s invitation to provide profile information.

Experience: Over 20 years of experience in the Thornton Township Democratic Organization. Served on School Board 154 and am a former Thornton Township Trustee. I have worked with local elected officials and schools throughout my career to bring needed resources to our communities.
Policy priorities: As the township Committeeperson, I would not have the ability to make policies. A few of my priorities as Committeeperson will be voter engagement and member involvement. I also think it is important to rebuild trust between the communities and the elected officials.
Service to constituents: As the Committeeperson I will do my best to make sure that each community is aware of upcoming elections and who the candidates for each election are. I will also be sure to have regular voter registration events in each community.
Closing statement: As the first woman running for Thornton Township Committeeperson, I have a proven track record of honesty and integrity along with experience in the democratic organization that no one else running for this seat has. That, along with my decades of service to these 17 communities make me the perfect candidate for this seat.
