Homewood police conducted four traffic enforcement operations last fall

The Homewood Police Department participated in four traffic enforcement campaigns from October through December 2025 with support from an Illinois Department of Transportation Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program grant.

As part of these campaigns, officers dedicated a total of 139.5 overtime hours to targeted traffic enforcement efforts, with a focus on speed compliance and seatbelt usage.

During this period, officers issued 61 seatbelt citations, 176 speeding citations, seven distracted driving citations, and nine additional traffic citations. Enforcement efforts also resulted in 10 traffic-related arrests and one criminal arrest.

These enforcement initiatives were conducted in addition to the department’s regular daily patrol operations and ongoing traffic enforcement efforts.

The Homewood Police Department remains committed to promoting roadway safety through proactive enforcement and continued community engagement in order to reduce traffic-related injuries and fatalities while maintaining strong partnerships with residents and visitors.
