Cook County officials announced Monday, March 2, that first-installment 2025 property tax bills have all been mailed by the treasurer’s office on schedule. The bills are also available online, and are due April 1.
Cook County’s property tax system is among the largest and most complex in the nation. It serves more than 1.8 million properties and requires close coordination among multiple independently elected offices, including the assessor, clerk and treasurer.
First-Installment 2025 collections will be distributed by the treasurer’s office to more than 2,000 local government agencies within 30 days of receipt.
Maintaining a consistent property tax calendar requires accuracy at every stage of the process, including assessment, certification, calculation of tax rates, billing, collection and distribution, as well as sustained coordination among all participating offices.
Cook County property tax offices will continue working together to strengthen coordination, improve integration and ensure the property tax system operates efficiently and reliably for taxpayers across Cook County.
