Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. Stop by The Attic in Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave., any time from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. to help complete projects for the community. Donations of non-perishable food items will be accepted to be donated to a local food pantry. Registration appreciated but not required.
Saturday, Jan. 17
Move-Along Storytime. Kids age 3 to 8 will enjoy stories, movement and imagination from 11 to 11:30 a.m. in the meeting room at Homewood Public Library.
Drama Group: If Books Could Kill Murder Mystery. Prepare to interview the suspects and vote for your murderer as the Drama Group stages “If Books Could Kill” at 7:30 p.m. at 330 W. 202nd St., Chicago Heights. Tickets are $5 at the door.

MLK Day of Service. For the 11th year, Flossmoor is coordinating a number of service projects to honor Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, including food drives, blood drives, blanket making, educational programs and much more. We Have a DREAM Rally. Local residents invite the community to a protest, Democracy Restored; Every Action Matters, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Homewood Veterans Memorial on Harwood Avenue.
