Pipefitters Local 597 apprentices host holiday luncheon for Glenwood Academy students

Pipefitters Local 597 hosted an afternoon of holiday cheer on Dec. 18 for 28 students of Glenwood Academy in Glenwood serving 150 students who face a variety of challenges.

More than 350 apprentices of Local 597 helped students enjoy a pizza party and visits with Santa Claus, who personally delivered about eight to 10 presents for each of the Glenwood Academy students. The apprentices of Local 597 shopped for and wrapped hundreds of presents for the students, in an effort to make an impact on locally underserved youth. 

Pipefitters Local 597 Training Facility is  in Mokena. 

Glenwood Academy is a private residential school that provides life-changing solutions for over 150 students and their families, ranging in age from seven to 23. All students arrive at Glenwood Academy from incredibly challenging circumstances including poverty, violence, homelessness, inadequate educational systems or lack of resources, with the goal of changing the trajectory of their lives through access to increased opportunity.
