Make a difference in your community by hosting a project in the Village of Flossmoor’s state-honored Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on Monday, Jan. 19.
This event will mark the 11th year of Flossmoor’s signature volunteer initiative, celebrated throughout the south suburban community and organized by the Flossmoor Community Relations Commission.
Community organizations, government agencies, local businesses or groups of neighbors are invited to have a meaningful impact in 2026 by becoming hosts for a service project.
“You think up the project, secure a location, and we will promote it and connect you to volunteers,” said Stephanie Wright, Flossmoor’s Community Engagement Manager.
Several organizations have already registered for the 2026 event, including Flossmoor School District 161, H-F High School Varsity Wrestling, PLAN4Success, Irons Oaks, Flossmoor Firebirds & Hurricanes, National Council of Jewish Women South Cook Section, Monarch Cities – Jack and Jill of America Inc., Forest Preserves of Cook County, Little Fannies Heavenly Housing and the Flossmoor Service League.
“Thank you to these organizations for exemplifying community spirit and dedication that make our Day of Service an annual success,” Wright said.
In 2020, Flossmoor’s Day of Service was honored as a finalist in the Illinois Governor’s Hometown Service Award program, highlighting its significant contribution to community service and volunteerism.
