Holbrook Road Paving Project. Pavement patching work on Holbrook Road are scheduled to take place from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. today and Monday, Nov. 16. The project should be completed by Tuesday, Nov. 18, weather permitting. The patching will be a moving operation working on one lane at a time starting on the Holbrook Road eastbound lane at Dixie Highway moving toward Halsted Street then turning around and working on the westbound lane of Holbrook Road from Halsted Street. Holbrook Road will remain open during pavement patching, however, motorists are encouraged to find a different route to avoid delays up to 15 minutes. 

Homers and Hot Chocolate Hitting Derby Fundraiser. Flossmoor Firebirds and Flossmoor Hurricanes traveling ball teams are hosting a fundraiser at Bronco Field, 1000 Brassie Ave. in Flossmoor. Participants will compete in age divisions, including adults, using bats and balls provided. The field will feature point zones. Each player gets 10 swings. There will be prizes for the top scorers in each division. Kids under 8 will start swinging at noon. Ages 8 to 11 will compete at 12:45 p.m. The 12 to 15 age group will compete at 1:30 p.m. Batters 16 and up will compete at 2:15 p.m. Entry is $15 per player. Register here.

Fetching Market at Thornton Distilling Co. A vibrant market featuring some of the Midwest’s most talented artisans from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Thornton Distilling, 400 E. Margaret St. in Thornton. Shop unique handcrafted goods, enjoy the historic atmosphere, and support local makers. Live entertainment from Marc Adrian and James Gedda.

Try It Archery. The H-F Park District will offer this session from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at On Target Archery, 22520 State St. in Steger, is designed to build archery confidence and skills in a fun, supportive environment. For adult participants. No prior experience is needed. Whether you’re brand new or just brushing up on the basics, this session is a great way to build confidence and skills in a fun, supportive environment. Trivia Night at IJP. Stewpendous Productions will host Infant Jesus of Prague School’s annual trivia night. Grab your smartest friends and join the fun starting at 7 p.m. at the school gym, 1101 Douglas Ave. in Flossmoor. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Beer, wine, and beverages available for purchase (no outside liquor, please). Bring your own food and snacks to enjoy at your table. STEM Saturday. Science play and learning from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Homewood Science Center, 18022 Dixie Highway.

Off-leash Ride. A leisurely just-riding-around nine-mile ride every Saturday. Route includes Butterfield Creek bike path, Rovers Run and Izaak Walton Preserve. Starts at GoodSpeed Cycles, 2125 183rd St., at 8:30 a.m. sharp, ends back at the shop 9:45ish for donuts.
