Ho-Flo Cranksgiving Ride. GoodSpeed Cycle will host its annual food drive on two wheels. It’s part bike ride, part scavenger hunt. At noon, riders pick up a manifest from the bike shop at 2125 W. 183rd St. that will list area grocery stores and needed items. Using any preferred route, riders buy at least one item from every store and deliver to Rabid Brewing, 17759 Bretz Drive in Homewood, by 4 p.m. The drive will benefit Restoration Ministries. Unsung Modernist in the Mid-Century Southland. Marcy Dinius, professor at DePaul University, will give a lecture on Homewood architect John McPherson from 2 to 4 p.m. at Black Bear Lodge in the Izaak Walton Preserve, 1100 Ridge Road in Homewood. There will be a bonfire, and seasonal pies will be served. In honor of McPherson’s Scottish/Irish roots guests are invited to wear plaid. Tickets are available here.
STEM Saturday. Science play and learning from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Homewood Science Center, 18022 Dixie Highway. HF Robotics will be on hand.
Off-leash Ride. A leisurely just-riding-around nine-mile ride every Saturday. Route includes Butterfield Creek bike path, Rovers Run and Izaak Walton Preserve. Starts at GoodSpeed Cycles, 2125 183rd St., at 8:30 a.m. sharp, ends back at the shop 9:45ish for donuts.
