Vikings Win in First Round of Playoffs. The Homewood-Flossmoor High School Vikings (6-4) beat Curie Condors (8-2) 56 to 8 on Friday, Oct. 31, in the first round of IHSA Class 8A playoffs. The Vikings will take on Lockport (7-3) at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, for round two.

Selective Mutism Documentary Screening. H-F Science Pub will host special screening of the documentary “Selective Mutism – Getting The Word Out” at 7 p.m. in the Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway. The film, directed by Eve Keepings de Jesus, raises awareness about selective mutism, a complex anxiety disorder that affects a person’s ability to speak in certain social situations.
