Flossmoor Social opened the third week in October, bringing a classy vibe to the Sterling Avenue location that formerly was home to Bistro on Sterling.
The restaurant at 1040 Sterling Ave. is owned and was developed by the team at 7th Floor Hospitality, headed by Louis Morgan and Corey Singleton, the same group that created the Embassy Cigar Lounge, which opened on Vollmer Road in April 2024.
At the ribbon cutting event on Oct. 4, Morgan said the new establishment would live up to its name.
“We want to focus on amazing hospitality. It’s going to be a community-focused space,” he said. “The food is a modern American small plates, so you’ll have sea bass, salmon (and) steaks on the menu, pretty much a little bit of everything. We want to serve portions that … are shareable.”

Singleton said the drinks menu would also be special.
“We have signature cocktails and special items on the menu that adds to the flavor of Flossmoor,” he said.
Morgan said the company’s two establishments in Flossmoor are just the beginning. A second Embassy Cigar Lounge is open in Park Ridge, and 7th Floor has plans to develop more restaurants in the South Suburbs, including in Flossmoor.
“A lot is coming up. We’ve entered into a partnership with Sip and Saver coffee shops as well, and we’ve taken over management for those locations,” he said. “So be on the lookout in 2026.”
The new restaurant developments will have at the helm a face familiar to Flossmoor residents who have attended Maureen Mader’s series of Battle of the Chefs fundraising events. Her team has faced off against renowned chef Jerome Brown’s team in a fierce but friendly competition.
Brown has signed on as 7th Floor’s chief culinary officer.
The Battle of the Chefs event did not take place this year because of the downtown streetscape renovation project, but both Mader and Brown expect to do battle again next year. The event raises money for the iCan Dream Center, which serves autistic youth.
Flossmoor Social’s executive chef will be Daniel Bullock, an accomplished chef and former culinary arts teacher at Homewood-Flossmoor High School who has his own bourbon label, Bull Young Bourbon.
“The menu is his. The layout is his. The way that it’s going to run is his,” Brown said. “We believe in giving the executive chef the autonomy to do what they feel is best.”
Flossmoor Social is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, 3 to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday.
