Hidden Treasures: Flossmoor Art Council offers event for appraisals of heirlooms, other finds

Curious about the value of a painting inherited from your grandparents, a piece picked up at a garage sale, or an old decorative object tucked away in your attic?

On Saturday, Oct. 4, the Flossmoor Art Council invites residents and collectors to Hidden Treasures, a special appraisal event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the FCC Community House, 847 Hutchison Road in Flossmoor.

Attendees will receive a professional, verbal evaluation of their items from recognized global fine art expert in appraisals. The appraisals will be conducted by MIR Appraisal Services, an established Chicago-based firm specializing in fine art, antiques and personal property.

The firm is led by Farhad Radfar, director and senior appraiser, who is an accredited member of the International Society of Appraisers. MIR Appraisal Services holds full accreditation with ISA and maintains an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.

Attendees will be able to select from one of four one-hour time slots — 11 a.m. to noon, noon to 1 p.m., 1 to 2 p.m. or 2 to 3 p.m. — to schedule their verbal appraisal. Each session is priced at $30 and participants are asked to arrive at least fifteen minutes prior to their scheduled time for check-in.

Hidden Treasures offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into the value, history, and provenance of personal items. Whether family heirlooms, flea market finds, or long-forgotten collectibles, the event provides a chance for community members to receive expert feedback they may not otherwise have access to locally.

Registration is now open and space is limited. All tickets must be purchased in advance, and appraisal time slots selected online at www.flossmoorartcouncil.org.

The Flossmoor Art Council is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to promoting the arts in all forms to enrich the community and foster unity.
