Walkers can register for the annual Cancer Support Center’s Walk of Hope fundraiser on Sunday, Oct. 12.

The Pink-A-Boo Walk celebration will be in a beautiful fall setting in Irwin Park, Highland Avenue and Ridge Road in Homewood. Supporters can choose two routes – 1 mile or 5K. Both routes will take walkers through downtown Homewood.
The fun morning starts with a Michael Jackson impersonator entertaining supporters at 8:45 a.m. at the Irwin Center bandshell. The cheer squad from Homewood-Flossmoor High School will be there to encourage walkers as they step off around 9 a.m.
“Every dollar you raise makes a powerful impact, helping the Cancer Support Center provide vital programs and support – all at no cost – for anyone facing cancer,” said Alyssa Dobbs, special events coordinator.
She invites volunteers to dress up in their pink attire or Halloween costumes. Walkers can choose a route to walk with a team, or come and meet other Cancer Support Center supporters.
Registrations are being accepted at cancersupportcenter.org. Registration fee is $35 for adults and $15 for youth. Registration will also be accepted the day of the walk.
If walking isn’t for you, the Cancer Support Center welcomes donations, made through its website, that support its mission.
