Flossmoor Board approves contracts for pavement and street repairs

The Flossmoor Board of Trustees approved two contracts for street maintenance in fiscal year 2026 at its Aug. 18 meeting, one for pavement crack filling and the other for street resurfacing.

The annual pavement cracking filling program’s goal is to clear cracks in the current asphalt, and fill them with fiber asphalt to prevent future potholes and pavement failure. The annual budget for the project is $50,000.  The board awarded the work to SKC Construction Inc. for $32,024.

The Street Resurfacing program calls for resurfacing one to one and a half miles of village streets, including curb repairs and sidewalk replacement with ADA updates on the resurfaced streets.

The FY26 budget for the Street Resurfacing program is $580,000, with $500,000 coming from the Motor Fuel Tax Fund and $80,000 from the general fund.

The board awarded the work to D Construction Inc. for $522,450.

This year’s Pavement Crack Filling program is in four neighborhoods and eleven streets.

In the Flossmoor Hills and Highlands neighborhood, the streets in the program include Harding Avenue, Springfield Avenue, Hamlin Avenue, 189th Street and 190th Street.

In Heather Hill, the streetwork includes Patricia Lane, and in Old Flossmoor the streets in the program are Gordon Drive and Sterling Avenue.

In Flossmoor Park, the program includes Evans Road from Carroll Parkway to Flossmoor Road, and from Evans Road to Hutchison Road.

The seven streets in the Street Resurfacing program include Markey Lane, MacHeath Crescent, Braemar Road, Poplar Road, Maple Road, Bunker Avenue and Havard Road.
