Mid-Summer Music. The H-F Park District will host Y2K performing in Irwin Park from 6 to 9 p.m. Get ready to party like it’s 1999 with ’90s throwback music.
Matilda the Musical. The show time is 7:30 p.m. at the Drama Group theater at 330 202nd St. in Chicago Heights. Gobble Doggs Grand Opening. The new turkey hot dog restaurant at 2025 Ridge Road in Homewood will hold its grand opening from noon to 2 p.m. Free samples, music, a scholarship award ceremony and mural unveiling.
Beyond Borders Cafe Grand Opening. The new cafe at 1036 Sterling Ave. in Flossmoor will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m.

Ice Hockey for Youngsters. Come and try out ice hockey and ice skating on Saturday from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. at the H-F Ice Arena, 777 Kedzie Ave. in Flossmoor. This is a great way for prospective young skaters ages 4 to 11 to try being on the ice. The staff will work with all skaters and recommend a class for the Fall 2025 season. Homewood Car Cruise. The car show will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Harwood Avenue train station parking lot. The program is sponsored by the Off the Grid Car Club & Dan’s Classics. Registration fee is $10 benefitting Anew, a nonprofit organization working to prevent domestic violence.

Homewood Outdoor Farmers Market. The market will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Martin Square on Martin Avenue between Chestnut and Ridge roads in downtown Homewood. Vendors will offer fresh produce, baked goods, handcrafted jewelry, skincare and more. Food trucks will be on hand and ready-to-eat meals will be available.
STEM Saturday. Science play and learning from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Homewood Science Center, 18022 Dixie Highway.
Barb & Dan’s Road Ride. Riders of all experience levels can join the group which leaves at 8 a.m. from GoodSpeed Cycles, 2125 183rd St. in Homewood. There is a no-drop group that rides about 20 miles and stronger riders sometimes go farther. Helmets required, daytime lights strongly recommended.
Off-leash Ride. A leisurely just-riding-around nine-mile ride every Saturday. Route includes Butterfield Creek bike path, Rovers Run and Izaak Walton Preserve. Starts at GoodSpeed Cycles, 2125 183rd St., at 8:30 a.m. sharp, ends back at the shop 9:45ish for donuts.
Sunday, Aug. 10
HoFlo 100. GoodSpeed Cycles, 2125 183rd St. will host the second annual 100 kilometer community bike ride. That’s 62 miles of just riding around Homewood and Flossmoor. The ride is unsupported, but the shop will have hotdogs, drinks and ice cream available between laps. All proceeds of the $10 registration donation will go to James Hart School’s Outride bicycle program. Half the proceeds of T-shirt sales also will go to the Outride program. Register here.
Haas Mural Tour. The Flossmoor Veterans Wall of Honor will host a tour of 15 Richard Haas murals in Homewood from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meet at Martin Square on the corner of Martin Avenue and Ridge Road. Kids must be accompanied by an adult. Liability waiver signature (non-transferable) will be collected before the tour begins. No public restrooms will be available. Wear comfortable shoes.
