“Matilda,” a musical about a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers, will be presented over two weekends by the Drama Group.
This musical wraps up the Drama Group’s 94th season. The production is directed by Tyler McMahon and is based on the book by Roald Dahl in which Matilda uses her power of imagination as she dreams of a better life.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 8 and 9, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10, with additional performances at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 14, 15 and 16, and at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 16 and 17. Matilda is unloved by her cruel parents, but impresses her schoolteacher, Miss Honey. During her first term at school, Matilda and her teacher form a bond as Miss Honey recognizes and appreciates Matilda’s extraordinary personality.
By contrast, the school’s headmistress Miss Trunchbull hates children and just loves to punish those who don’t abide by her rules. Matilda uses her cleverness and courage to change course toward a happy outcome.
The musical has high-energy dance numbers, catchy songs and a power-packed cast that brings the story to life.
