New location, more music at 5th annual Chamber Night

Chamber Night was created in 2021 as a way to help bring people to downtown Flossmoor and support local businesses that were struggling to survive the COVID-19 pandemic. The same mission continues this year as the Thursday, July 24, event moves to the village’s south side business district.

The downtown streetscape construction project made holding the event at the south lawn of the Flossmoor Public Library impractical, so the event will take place at Flossmoor Commons on Vollmer Road between Kedzie Avenue and Governors Highway.

Flossmoor Business Association President Maureen Mader said the organization has long wanted to host an event in Flossmoor Commons to bring attention to the businesses there, so the group embraced the opportunity.

The event will include an expanded musical program, too. As in the past couple years, the Bel Canto Community Choir will open the concert at 5:45 p.m. followed by an Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra ensemble playing show tunes.

New this year will be an after party featuring Keya Trammell and Return 2 Soul. They will take the stage following the IPO ensemble performance.

For the second year the event will also include an auction of plein air art created for the event. Proceeds of the silent auction will benefit the Flossmoor Public Art Commission, which manages the village’s sculpture collection.

Organizers encourage guests to stop by before the concert starts to visit the stores and restaurants in Flossmoor Commons and to talk with representatives of other Flossmoor businesses.

Food trucks will also be available during the event.

Chamber Night is a partnership between the Village of Flossmoor, Flossmoor Business Association, Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra, the Chicago Southland Chamber of Commerce and the Homewood-Flossmoor Chronicle.
