Downtown Streetscape Work Early. Flossmoor officials announced Tuesday afternoon that workers plan to begin saw cutting on Sterling Avenue at 6 a.m. and hope to complete that work before the businesses open.
Homewood Public Library Board of Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, in the library, 17917 Dixie Highway. The agenda will be available here.
Birds of Prey. From 11 a.m. to noon Irons Oaks Environmental Learning Center will host a chance to see raptors up close as the Northern Illinois Raptor Rehab and Education visits. The cost is $7 for H-F Park District residents, $9 for non-residents. Register here.
National Hot Dog Day. Homewood-Flossmoor Park District will host a hot dog cookout from noon to 2 p.m. in Irwin Park, 1800 block of Ridge Road in Homewood.
Picnic Day. Flossmoor Public Library will host a picnic from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Leavitt Park, 1011 Leavitt Ave. For all ages. Everyone is invited to bring their favorite book, snacks, a blanket, towel or chair. The library will provide drinks and light refreshments plus fun activities.
Prairie at Night. Dave Ward, former superintendent of golf, will host a walk starting at 6 p.m. at Coyote Run Golf Course, 800 Kedzie Ave., offering information about the various native plants throughout the course and to advise on how to landscape with native species.
