The Flossmoor Police Department announced Monday, July 14, that officers issued 115 citations during enhanced traffic enforcement efforts conducted between June 20 and July 7.
The program, part of the Federal Fiscal Year 2025 Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP). was aimed at reducing traffic crashes and saving lives.
During the STEP enforcement period, Flossmoor officers issued:
- 5 speeding citations.
- 86 occupant restraint citations.
- 22 other traffic citations.
- 2 traffic arrests.
These efforts were conducted under a high-visibility traffic safety campaign, including Click It or Ticket.
“The goal of this enforcement was to make our roads safer for everyone,” said Flossmoor Police Chief Carl Estelle. “By focusing on the leading causes of crashes – such as speeding, impaired driving, distracted driving and failure to wear seat belts – we aimed to save lives and remind drivers that violating traffic laws will not be tolerated.”
The STEP grant has been funded by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois
Department of Transportation (IDOT) and is part of a statewide effort to improve roadway safety and reduce traffic-related fatalities.
