Homewood OKs auditorium lease change with Homewood Arts Council ahead of renovation

The Homewood Arts Council (HAC) is now on a month-to-month lease for use of the Homewood Auditorium due to the village preparing for renovations to take place at the auditorium in late fall or early winter of this year.

The Homewood Village Board approved the new Lease Extension and Modification Agreement  at the July 8 meeting. The new agreement began July 1.

According to Terence Acquah, Homewood assistant village manager, the original lease agreement was made on May 28, 2024, and expired on June 30, 2025.

The agreement allowed the HAC, a non-profit organization formed in 2018, to use the auditorium located at 2010 Chestnut Road for their programming and art events, Acquah said.

“This flexible arrangement ensures the continued use of the facility by the Homewood Arts Council, while allowing the village to adjust plans as renovation timelines are finalized,” Acquah wrote.

He says that the new lease allows either party to end the agreement with 30 days notice, and allows uninterrupted arts programming in coordination with future facility improvements.

All other terms of the lease will be the same as the previous lease, which required minimal rent, $1 annually. The village also will continue to provide utility and maintenance support, Acquah said.

The lease with HAC will remain in effect until renovations require it to end or be modified, he said.
