Flossmoor Offices Closed. Flossmoor Village Hall offices and the Public Works building will be closed to the public today and tomorrow for staff training. The Police and Fire Departments will remain open for emergency and safety services. Residents will be able to purchase daily parking passes at the Police Department using the north entrance both days; payments for items, such as water bills, will be accepted online. Emergency building permits on these days can be requested via email at [email protected], and Public Works’ concerns can be reported by calling 708-957-4100. Offices will reopen to the public at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, June 30.

Homewood Planning and Zoning Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 26, in village hall, 2020 Chestnut Road. The agenda is available here. The meeting livestream will be available here. Meeting ID 991 8481 1606. Passcode 573812.

Martin Square Block Party. Food, music, games, and fun for all ages from 6 to 10 p.m. on Martin Avenue between Ridge Road and Chestnut Road in Homewood. 

Teen Movie Night. “Legally Blonde” will be showing from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the FORT at Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway. For those in grades 7 through 12. Registration is preferred, but not required.

Gentle Yoga. Gail of Blissful Light Yoga will lead a session of stretching, meditation, relaxation and breathing from 7 to 8 p.m. at Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave. Classes are open to those ages 18 and up. Beginners are welcome. Attendees must be able to get up and down from the mat without assistance. Bring your own mat, yoga block and yoga strap if possible. We will have a limited supply of straps, blocks and blankets available.

Gardening Club. Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, will host the monthly garden club from 7 to 8 p.m. Open to all, from beginner gardeners to master gardeners.

Books and Brews. Homewood Brewing Company, 18225 Dixie Highway, will host a discussion of “Remarkably Bright Creatures” by Shelby Van Pelt. This book discussion group is for readers aged 21 and up.
