Congresswoman Robin Kelly, D-Ill, will address the PSC Pioneers Wear Orange event at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at the Prairie State College Conference Center, 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights. Participants will gather outside on the east side campus stairs.
Kelly has campaigned for and supported tougher gun laws as a means of breaking the cycle of gun violence.
Attendees are encouraged to bring photos of their loved ones who died due to gun violence. The event will feature an environmentally friendly balloon release in remembrance of Hadiya Pendleton, Blair Holt and all innocent victims of gun violence.
The Wear Orange campaign brings awareness to the public health crisis and calls for meaningful action to prevent further tragedies. Additional information is at wearorange.org.
