H-F students hosting film festival May 9

Students in the film program at Homewood-Flossmoor High School will present their work in the first H-F Film Festival set for 6 p.m. Friday, May 9, in the cafeteria in the South Building, 999 Kedzie Ave. in Flossmoor. The event is free.

Film teacher Matthew McLindon said his students are looking forward to sharing their success with others.

The films are all shorts. They generally run 5 minutes or less, but there may be a few that run 10 minutes. The films were created as part of student assignments. H-F students are also collaborating on a short film with students at James Hart School in Homewood.

McLindon told the Chronicle: “I couldn’t be more excited to guide a new generation of filmmakers. With a dedicated film class for the first time at H-F, both beginner and advanced students have had the chance to dive deep into the art of short filmmaking. We’ve not only laid a strong foundation for the Viking Film program—we’ve started building something truly special, and we’re celebrating with our very own Viking Film Festival!”
