Homewood residents asked to shelter in place while police pursue suspect

Homewood residents in the area of 186th Street and Riegel Road received an emergency alert just after 4 p.m. Friday, April 25, advising them to shelter in place because of police activity. Willow School was placed on lockdown, although students were gone already. Homewood police assisted Chicago Heights officers in locating a person who was thought to be armed. The suspect was fleeing from Chicago Heights when he crashed a vehicle into a tree
