Homewood Cleanup Day. In honor of Earth Day, Homewood is hosting a community clean-up from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The village will provide garbage bags, gloves, trash pickers and safety vests. Volunteers should meet at Homewood Public Works, 17755 Ashland Ave. Sign up to volunteer here.
STEM Saturday. The Homewood Science Center, 18022 Dixie Highway, hosts the free educational play session from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Navigating Court Archives. This program, Navigating the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court Archives, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave., will help participants effectively use this historical research gem. Covered topics include county naturalizations, divorces, civil and criminal case files, wills and probate files, and even Chicago “Burnt Records.” Registration is not required.
Roller Derby. Comic Book Crushers vs. Retro Rumblers in a Chicago Knockouts Premier League bout at Homewood Auditorium, 2010 Chestnut Road. Doors open at 7:15 p.m., action begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 online, $20 at the door, trackside $20, front row $25. Accessible seating available at no extra charge.
Barb & Dan’s Road Ride. Riders of all experience levels can join the group, which leaves at 8 a.m. from GoodSpeed Cycle, 2125 183rd St. in Homewood. There is a no-drop group that rides about 20 miles and stronger riders sometimes go further. Helmets required, daytime lights strongly recommended.
Off-leash Ride. A leisurely just-riding-around nine-mile ride every Saturday. Route includes Butterfield Creek bike path, Rovers Run, and Izaak Walton Preserve. Starts at GoodSpeed Cycles, 2125 183rd St. at 8:30 a.m. sharp, ends back at the shop 9:45ish for donuts.
