Election 2025: Theard-Griggs, Agbarah win endorsement from D161 teachers union

The Flossmoor Education Association, the teachers union for Flossmoor schools, has given its support to Carolyn Theard-Griggs and Elizabeth Agbarah as candidates in the District 161 school board election. Both currently serve on the board.

Candidates were selected after answering surveys from the association. Those surveys were then evaluated by the FEA executive board whose members reached a final decision on which candidates to support.

There are four seats open on the District 161 board in the April 1 election. Candidates are Agbarah and Griggs, Jason Bizjak, Tre Childress, Crystal Cleggett, Ashly Giddens and Cameron Nelson.

Theard-Griggs has been serving on the school board since 2017. Today she is the board’s president. A former elementary school teacher she now works in higher education. Theard-Griggs says she believes strongly in transparent and effective communication between all stakeholders.

Agbarah works in the nonprofit sector. She was appointed to the board in August 2023 to fill a vacancy. Agbarah says she is committed to enhancing educational opportunities, strengthening academic programs and ensuring fiscal responsibility.
